SOS Children’s Villages Kenya
Request for Proposals
Tender Name: FS Program Impact Evaluation
Tender Ref No: SOSCVKENYA/NO/FS/001/2021
SOS Children’s Villages Kenya is an affiliate of SOS CV-International whose mission is to build families for children in need, help them shape their own futures and share in the development of their communities.
In Kenya, the organization runs five Children’s Villages in Nairobi, Mombasa, Eldoret, Meru, and Kisumu.
SOS Children’s Villages Kenya also runs education and health institutions and works with local communities through Family Strengthening Programs.
SOS CV Kenya has been implementing Family Strengthening (FS) programs in different locations in the last 12 years.
The Family Strengthening Programs are meant to:
a) Ensure that children have access to essential services required for fulfilling their survival and development, protection and participation rights. This includes educational, nutrition, health and psycho-social support; improvements of living conditions; as well as support to establish the child’s identity. These services reach children directly.
b) Support families to build their capacity to protect and care for their children. This includes supporting care-givers to develop their parenting knowledge and skills; to secure a stable source of resources (e.g. income and food production) to provide for their children’s development needs now and in the future; and to manage their resources efficiently. These services reach children through their families.
c) Strengthen support systems for vulnerable children and their families within the community. In particular, support is given to community members (from the target group, relevant service-providers or other concerned members of the community) to self-organise so that they are able to develop and sustain their own responses to the needs of vulnerable children and their families. These services reach children through their communities.
Over the course of implementing the programmes across the 12 years, over 4000 Families have benefitted with 9,000 children being reached with various services as guided by the objectives of the program.
SOS CV Kenya with the support of M&E department, seek to commission an evaluation of the FS programs across active implementation sites in a bid to assess the effectiveness of the programs in meeting their objectives.
In addition, the Member Association (SOS CV Kenya) intends to gather evidence on what has worked, and what has not so as to inform a broader FS redesign agenda.
The study will also play a critical role in accounting for the investment made over the years.
