Terms of Reference: Finance Intern

Overview of the Organization: Inades Formation is a pan- African organization working in ten (10) African countries namely; Kenya, Burkina Faso, Cote d’Ivoire, Chad, Cameroon, Togo, Congo DR, Rwanda, Burundi and Tanzania.

The network has a General Secretariat at Abidjan, Cote d’Ivoire. Inades Formation Kenya (IFK) is registered as a Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) with mandate to work anywhere in Kenya for Economic and Social advancement of the people.

The major areas of focus are food systems based on family farming, community micro-finance, inclusive governance and climate change adaptation.

Inades Formation Kenya is currently looking for a young, enthusiastic and driven Finance Intern to assist in the Finance Department and ICOMED project.

Job Purpose: This unique six-month internship opportunity is for someone who has a strong interest in pursuing a career in Finance, allowing you to test your abilities and further explore your career interests.

Not only does an internship provide you with a first-hand look and experience inside Inades Network, but it also gives us as an organization the opportunity to further develop your skills in this field of study.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support SOFDEV units in organizing their savings and loan data bases using designed excel templates to obtain a complete updated financial record of the units.
  • Prepare relevant excel templates to record the units’ actual and updated membership, savings and loans data, the members’ interaction with the different savings and loan products, total loan uptake, level of loan repayment and rate of loan repayment.
  • Travel to the units’ location to record data according to the schedule provided.
  • Support in maintaining an effective filing, archiving and record keeping systems, both paper and electronic.
  • Support the Project Accountant in ensuring efficient, timely and accurate recording and payment of accounts payable.
  • Assist in ensuring proper documentation of payment vouchers and all other supporting documents
  • Assist in the thorough audit of all transactions at point of entry ensuring appropriate purchase order matching, credit terms and adherence to appropriate authorization and budget confirmation and clearance.
  • Support in the effective running of daily administrative and financial activities of the organization.


Applicant must have a Bachelors degree in Business Administration or Bachelor of Commerce (Finance or Accounting specialization) with strong academic credentials. CPA/ACCA qualification preferred.
