Job Vacancy: Social Media Officer

Our client is a leading gas company in the African region, they are seeking to have on board a competent Social Media Officer to support their expansion strategy and maintain efficient and effective services for their clients.

The job is expected to manage all aspects of social media interaction between customers and the company and ensure a positive online customer experience.

Reports to: Marketing and Customer Service Manager

Job Location: Nairobi

Overall Objective: Manage all aspects of social media interaction between customers and the company and ensure a positive online customer experience.

Key Result Areas

  • Build the company’s brand awareness and visibility through consistent, quality execution of the company social media marketing plan.
  • Work closely with the marketing agency to build the company brand in online platforms.
  • Collaborate with various teams, like marketing, sales, and customer service to ensure company brand consistency and growth.
  • Assist in designing and implementation of social media strategies to align with company goals.
  • Contribute to marketing strategy and planning.
  • Conversion of online leads to customers through proper messaging on the company brand.
  • Monitor SEO and web traffic metrics.
  • Communicate with followers, respond to queries in a timely manner and monitor customer reviews.
  • Suggest and implement new trends to develop brand awareness, like promotions and competition.
  • Development of brand identity, awareness, and online reputation through proper messaging.
  • Ability to develop and expand the online community and/or influence outreach efforts.
  • Oversee Social media advertising, buying and monitoring.
  • Perform research on current benchmark trends and audience preferences.
  • Advocate for the company in social media spaces, engage in dialogues and answer questions where appropriate.
  • Monitor social media channels. Write and publish social media posts in accordance with Social Media policy.
  • Work with graphic designers to update website content and create social media posters as required.
  • Help create systems for routinely collecting customers’ feedback (on social media pages) to identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Work closely with customer service and marketing manager and Business Analyst to identify trends in customer behavior and explore causes through mixed methods of data collection.
  • Assist sales and marketing managers to prototype potential solutions to identified problems, using clear metrics for measuring success.

Minimum Requirements

  • Degree/Diploma in Commerce, Business, Mass Communication, PR or Marketing
  • Digital skills course and Professional Qualifications in Marketing an added advantage
  • Ability to work with teams
  • 1-3 years working as a social media specialist / digital marketing
  • Experience working in other media platforms like Radio, TV etc an added advantage
  • Content creation and management.
  • Knowledge of social media advertising tools.
  • An ability to multitask, to work on several projects at once.
  • Knowledge in SEO, keyword research and google analytics.
  • Effective in solving challenging problems in original and creative ways.
  • Ability to analyze data and draw conclusions to drive business decisions
  • Ability to communicate effectively at all levels in the organization to drive action

  • Ability to empathize with customers and communicate with them online.
  • Fluent in English and Kiswahili
