The Council of Legal Education has been re-established under the Legal Education Act, No.27 of 2012 with the twin primary purposes of: Promoting legal education and training, and the maintenance of the highest possible standards in legal education providers; and the provision of a system to guarantee the quality of legal education and legal education providers.
Position Title: Standards and Licensing Manager
Grade CLE 3
Description: The job holder will assists the Director in writing and setting standards for legal education and training in Kenya and plays a direct role in coordinating implementation of the legal education regulatory framework and supervising inspection of legal education providers.
This professional position is responsible for the implementation / coordination of the accreditation process in accordance with established Legal Education and Training standards, policies, and procedures.
The duties of the officer will entail:
a) Developing and implementing Regulations and guidelines to facilitate licensing of all legal programmes and legal education providers;
b) Developing and implementing criteria for recognition and approval of foreign qualifications in law;
c) Receiving and reviewing all applications for recognition, equation and licensing of foreign legal qualifications in Kenya and make recommendations to the Director;
d) Developing and implementing the criteria for licensing of institutions for remedial programme;
e) Developing and implementing criteria for licensing of institutions for new and emerging programs in legal education and training;
f) Administering quality standards for approval for legal training providers; and
g) Coordinating under the guidance of the Director, the process of reviewing and processing applications for approval by training providers.
a) Have Bachelor’s degree in Law;
b) Have Master’s degree in law or its equivalent qualification from a recognized institution;
c) Have Post graduate diploma in law;
d) Be an Advocate of the High Court or Membership of professional body in good standing
e) Have a minimum of eight (8) years relevant work experience three (3) of which should have been at the level of senior Officer;
f) Have attended a Management Course lasting not less than four (4) weeks from a recognized institution;
g) Be Proficient in computer application; and
h) Fulfil the requirements of Chapter Six of the Constitution.

Appointment will be on permanent and pensionable terms
- Basic Salary: 215,600 x 19,712 – 235,312 x 19,712 – 255,024 x 19,712 -274,736 x 19,712 – 294,448 x 19,712 – 314,160 per month
- House Allowance: Kshs.50,000
- Commuter Allowance: Kshs.14,000
